The Industrial Roll — For Wide-Bar Machines and High-Volume Operations
The 45cm roll sits in a specific position in the E-Vac range: it is too wide for the standard 34cm and 36cm machines that cover most home and light commercial use, and it is the widest roll available before stepping up to the 60cm format for the largest industrial machines.
Machine Requirement First
A seal bar must cover the full width of the roll opening to produce a complete weld. At 45cm, this roll requires a machine with a seal bar of at least 45cm. In the LAVA range, that means the V.400 Premium XL (46cm bar) or wider. If you are running a V.300, V.333, or V.350, this roll will not seal correctly — order the 30cm roll instead.
What the 45cm width enables. At this width, the roll handles three practical use cases that narrower rolls cannot:
Wide-Format Products
Whole sides of large salmon, full bone-in shoulders of pork, wide brisket flats, game haunches, and large retail-format portions. The product sits in the bag without compression or folding, which produces a cleaner vacuum and a more reliable weld.
Parallel Dual-Bag Sealing
On a machine with a 46cm bar, two standard 20cm or 22cm bags can be positioned side by side across the roll and sealed in a single cycle. This effectively doubles throughput on smaller-format products — a significant efficiency gain for butcher shops, catering operations, and food production lines processing the same portioned product in volume.
Industrial Packaging
Wide-format ESD bags, broad component packaging, sheet-material industrial bags, and any application where the 30cm roll is insufficient and the 60cm roll provides more width than needed.
Same E-Vac Film, Wider Format
The film construction is identical to every other width in the E-Vac range: Swiss-made PA/PE multilayer with the patented fleece-layer structure, same temperature ratings, same food contact certifications. The only variable across the E-Vac range is width.
Best For
Operations running a V.400 Premium XL or wider vacuum packaging machine, wide-format meat and fish products, parallel dual-bag sealing for high-volume portioning, and industrial packaging applications requiring 45cm seal width.
E-Vac 45cm Rolls — Common Questions
Can I use this roll on my V.300, V.333, or V.350?
No. The V.300 and V.333 have 34cm seal bars; the V.350 has a 36cm bar. A 45cm roll requires a seal bar of at least 45cm to produce a complete weld across the full bag opening. On a narrower bar, the roll will seal across the bar width and leave the remaining width unsealed. The widest roll that works correctly on a V.300, V.333, or V.350 is the 30cm E-Vac roll.
Which LAVA machines handle the 45cm roll?
The V.400 Premium XL (46cm bar), the V.500 Premium XXL (72cm bar), and the V.1200 Premium XXXL (121cm bar) all handle the 45cm roll. If you are unsure which machine you have, check the seal bar width on the machine’s spec plate or product page.
Can I seal two bags at once with this roll?
What is the difference between the 45cm and 60cm rolls?
Width only — the film, material, and specs are identical across all E-Vac widths. The 60cm roll requires a machine with a 60cm+ seal bar — the V.500 XXL (72cm) or V.1200 XXXL (121cm). If your machine has a 46cm bar (V.400), the 45cm roll is the correct maximum width.

These textured 450mm rolls are generally pretty hard to find, as most home sealers are only 280mm wide, so there isn’t quite so much demand for them. However, let me discuss this a bit more in detail, and you might find something interesting.
Please note that a typical sealer at home requires textured rolls rather than the smooth rolls used in commercial vacuum chamber sealers. Many rolls beyond 280mm wide are smooth and won’t work in home based sealers. Don’t worry, these will work in home-based sealers as they are the textured kind.
At first glance, the price per roll will seem quite a bit higher than the price points found on cheap 280mm vacuum rolls that you can buy online. However, the quality and materials are in fact, thicker than the cheaper ones.
While I’d always recommend that you use the right tool for the job, especially in commercial kitchens where time is money, there are times that you might need to improvise to use what you have “on hand”.
This is a situation I found myself in. Most of the cheeses I make are designed for individual consumption. However, when I was tasked to make a bigger cheese, I found my 280mm rolls weren’t wide enough.
So if you can’t stretch to a wider and more expensive vacuum sealer, it’s possible (with some fiddling) to seal this 450mm roll in a 280mm wide home sealer by cutting off the corners and sealing each end somewhat diagonally, crossing over in the middle. So it might shock people that they can probably these 450mm rolls at all.
As a proof of concept, here is a picture of my larger cheese in some 450mm roll, that was sealed in a 280mm sealer. This is a 3.9Kg immature Gruyere cheese infused with black garlic (it is not mould growing due to a failed seal).
The cost of these rolls is substantially less than a new wider sealer, so if you find yourself in a pinch, then it is very handy to have these on hand.
Good luck on your sealing endeavours!
