Same Dimensions as the R-Vac 16x25cm — 75% Thicker Film
The RS-Vac 16x25cm and the standard R-Vac 16x25cm are the same bag dimensions. Both are Swiss-made PA/PE multilayer fleece-layer bags produced for individual portions, sous vide cooking, small fish fillets, single-serve meal prep, herbs, and snack portions. The only difference is thickness, 160 micron vs 90 micron.
Standard R-Vac
Best for boneless cuts, fish fillets without bones or sharp fins, meal prep portions, herbs, and snacks where the standard film is enough.
Heavy Duty RS-Vac
Best when the product has sharp edges, bones, protrusions, shot fragments, or needs stronger long-term freezer protection.
When to Choose the RS-Vac 16x25cm
The RS-Vac at 16x25cm is the right choice when the product has sharp edges or protrusions that could pierce a standard bag.
Bone-In Lamb Cutlets and Small Chops
A single lamb cutlet with the chine bone and rib bone exposed has two sharp points that can push against the bag wall during vacuum or in the freezer. At 160 micron, the extra film thickness resists the bone pressure cleanly.
Bone-In Chicken Pieces
A single chicken drumstick or chicken thigh with the bone in has a protruding knuckle at the joint end. Small bone shards after jointing can also work through thin film over time in the freezer.
Small Game Portions
Wild game processed at home often has small bone fragments or shot pellets in the meat. These press against the bag during vacuum and can work through standard foil during storage.
Long-Term Small Portion Storage
For anything intended to stay in the freezer for 12 months or more, the extra film thickness provides a stronger oxygen barrier and a more durable pack over that storage period.
When Standard R-Vac Still Makes Sense
For boneless cuts, fish fillets without bones or sharp fins, meal prep portions, herbs, and snacks, the standard R-Vac 16x25cm is the right choice and costs less per bag.
Best For
Bone-in lamb cutlets and small chops, bone-in chicken pieces, small game portions with bone fragments or shot, individual small cuts going into 12+ months of freezer storage, and any compact portion where puncture resistance at small size matters.
Machine Compatibility
All LAVA vacuum packaging machines seal 160-micron foil. If you are using a non-LAVA machine, check your machine's maximum foil thickness specification before ordering. Compatible with all LAVA vacuum packaging machines and external vacuum sealers rated for 160-micron foil.
RS-Vac 16 x 25cm — Common Questions
What is the difference between the RS-Vac 16x25cm and the R-Vac 16x25cm?
Thickness only. Both bags are 16x25cm with identical Swiss-made PA/PE multilayer fleece-layer construction. The RS-Vac is 160 micron and approximately 75% thicker than the R-Vac at 90 micron. Use the RS-Vac for products with bone, sharp edges, or long-term storage requirements. Use the standard R-Vac for boneless cuts, fish fillets, herbs, meal prep, and snacks where puncture resistance is not a concern.
Will my machine seal 160-micron bags?
All LAVA vacuum sealers seal 160-micron foil. For non-LAVA machines, check the maximum foil thickness in your machine’s specifications. Consumer-grade food saver machines often max out at 90 to 120 microns. Attempting to seal 160-micron foil on an underpowered machine produces a weak or incomplete weld rather than machine damage.
