Three Layers of Protection in One Bag
The I-Vac is the only bag in the LAVA range that is not a food bag. It shares the Swiss-made multilayer film construction of the R-Vac and RS-Vac range but replaces the standard PA/PE structure with a metallised barrier layer. That changes what the bag protects against.
Electrostatic discharge protection
Electronic components — PCBs, semiconductors, ICs, processors, memory modules — are sensitive to electrostatic discharge at levels too low for a person to feel. A standard plastic bag generates and holds static charge that can transfer to the component on contact. The I-Vac's metallised layer dissipates electrostatic charge, meeting the EOS/ESD standard and the MIL-B-81705 Type 1, Class 1 specification for ESD packaging.
Electromagnetic interference shielding
The metallised barrier provides shielding against electromagnetic interference. For components requiring protection from external EMF during storage and transport — defence electronics, precision instruments, sensitive sensors — the metallised layer acts as a Faraday barrier around the contents.
Moisture and oxygen barrier
The WVTR of <0.0003 g/100 inch² per day is one of the lowest available in the ESD bag category. Combined with vacuum sealing, the I-Vac removes air from the package and the metallised barrier prevents moisture vapour from re-entering through the film over extended storage periods.
Compatible with External and Chamber Vacuum Machines
Compatibility with chamber machines is a genuine differentiator. Most vacuum seal bags — including all other bags in the LAVA range — require an external sealer with an embossed channel structure to draw air out. The I-Vac works with both external vacuum sealers and chamber vacuum packers, which use smooth bags and a different sealing mechanism. If your operation uses a chamber machine for other packaging, the I-Vac can run on the same equipment.
Best For
PCBs and electronic assemblies, semiconductors and ICs, memory and processor modules, precision instruments and sensors, MSD components requiring dry-pack storage to IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033, defence and aerospace electronics packaging, and any component requiring simultaneous ESD, EMI, and moisture protection.
Machine Fit Note
Compatible with all LAVA vacuum sealer and chamber vacuum packers. For the widest I-Vac sizes — 30x47cm and 46x46cm — verify your machine's seal bar width covers the full bag opening before ordering.

I-Vac ESD Bags — Common Questions
Can I use the I-Vac bags with a standard external vacuum sealer?
Yes. The I-Vac bags are compatible with external vacuum sealers. Note that the metallised foil requires a machine capable of sealing the composite material — all LAVA vacuum sealers handle this. Confirm your machine’s foil type compatibility before ordering if using a non-LAVA sealer.
