LAVA V.400 Premium Vacuum Packing Machine

The V.400 Premium XL and the V.350 Premium L are very similar machines. Both have a stainless steel housing, a triple-seal bar, a -0.94 bar vacuum, an LCS+ closing system, an analogue pressure gauge, and L+ regulation. The V.400 runs at 1,100W rather than 900W, and the seal bar is 46cm rather than 36cm. That is the entire difference.

The reason to choose the V.400 is the 46cm bar. It handles product and bag formats that do not fit within a 36cm seal width, and it allows three standard-width bags to be sealed simultaneously rather than two. For a high-volume operation where throughput is the constraint, running three bags per cycle instead of two adds up significantly over the course of a shift.

The 1,100W sealing transformer drives the 46cm triple-seal bar reliably and consistently through continuous operation, sealing all three weld lines cleanly at full width without the heat drop-off that a lower-wattage machine would show when pushed to its limits. The oversized transformer and fan-cooled housing mean the machine can run 1,000 consecutive sealings without stopping.

At 12.85 kg, this is not a machine that moves regularly around. It is a production bench tool for operations that process significant volumes daily.

46cm Seal, The XL Bar and How It Gets Used

The defining feature of the V.400 Premium XL is the 46cm triple-seal bar. It is 10cm wider than the V.350’s 36cm bar and handles product and packaging formats that sit outside the range of most commercial vacuum packing machines.

Three bags per cycle: At 46cm, you can seal three standard vacuum bags side by side in a single cycle. For a butcher shop, catering operation, or food production line portioning the same product into consistent sizes, sealing three bags simultaneously rather than two materially changes hourly throughput without changing the machine’s cycle time.

Wide-format products: Whole sides of large fish, wide cuts from big game, half-carcass portions, broad charcuterie boards, and any product that simply does not fit within a 36cm seal area go through the V.400 without needing to be repositioned, folded, or stuffed into a narrower bag.

Industrial and medical applications: Wide-format packaging for large electronic components, sheet materials, protective packaging, and medical supply items all require a seal bar that goes beyond what most commercial food machines offer. At 46cm, the V.400 covers the formats that the V.350 does not.

Retail packaging operations: Packaging designed for retail display often uses wider bag formats than food service portioning. The V.400 handles retail-scale bag widths that would require a V.350 to seal in multiple passes.

The triple-seal bar produces three separate weld lines across the full 46cm width on every bag. Each line is approximately 4mm wide. Three seams on a 46cm bag is a significant closure area, far more seal security than any single or double-seal machine can provide at this width.

1,100W, What the Extra Wattage Does Over the V.350

The V.400 Premium XL runs a 1,100W sealing transformer, 200W more than the V.350 Premium L. As with the step-up from V.333 to V.350, the extra wattage is dissipated in the sealing transformer rather than in the pump.

Sealing three weld lines simultaneously across a 46cm bar requires sustained, even heat across a larger contact area than the V.350’s 36cm bar. At 1,100W, the transformer fully heats the sealing strip and maintains the temperature required for clean, consistent triple welds across the full 46cm on every cycle. Running a 46cm triple-seal bar at 900W would risk inconsistent seal quality toward the outer edges of the bar on successive cycles, particularly with thicker foils.

The continuous 13-sealing-time scale on the V.400 (compared to a continuously adjustable setting on the V.350) provides precise control over sealing duration across different foil thicknesses. This matters on a wide-bar machine: thin dry-aging bags and 200-micron industrial foil require substantially different sealing times, and the 1 to 13 setting ensures repeatable, consistent results at each thickness setting rather than relying on manual estimation.

Precise Vacuum Control

The V.400 Premium XL includes the analogue pressure gauge and L+ pressure regulator as standard, the same setup as the V.350 Premium L and V.333 range. On the V.400, the L+ regulator adjusts vacuum pressure down to approximately -0.2 bar, the same lower limit as the V.350.

The pressure gauge shows the exact vacuum level in the bar during every cycle. In automatic mode the machine seals at -0.94 bar without input. In manual mode you watch the needle and trigger the triple weld yourself when it reaches your target level.

The L+ regulator is used in manual mode for pressure-sensitive products, marinated or moist items where drawing full vacuum would either force liquid toward the seal area or compress the product excessively. On a 46cm wide bag, the consequences of a failed seal from liquid contamination are more significant than on a narrower bag, making the precise L+ regulation more valuable rather than less at this scale.

LCS+ and Fully Automatic Operation

The V.400 Premium XL runs on the same LCS+ system as the V.350, a brief press of the lid engages the magnetic latch, the pump starts automatically, the machine draws to target vacuum, fires the triple seal, and the solenoid ventilates the chamber and releases the lid without any further input from the operator.

In a high-volume operation, this matters. You close the lid, turn to prepare the next batch of bags, and the machine releases the sealed bag before you are ready for the next cycle. The LCS+ removes the bottleneck that manual or semi-automatic machines create when running at production speed.

Manual mode is available for L+ regulation use, pump starts automatically, operator triggers the seal at the gauge-confirmed target pressure.

The dual liquid protection system is standard: a large removable liquid receiver in the chamber and a secondary receiver near the bag locator intercept liquid before it reaches the pump. On a 46cm machine running large wet products like whole fish sides or wide cuts of fresh meat, this protection is not optional, it is what keeps the pump running cleanly over years of heavy use.

Industrial and ESD Applications

The V.400 Premium XL is one of LAVA’s recommended machines for industrial vacuum packaging, specifically including ESD anti-static bags (i-Vac) for electronic components. The 46cm bar handles wide-format industrial bags that are standard in electronics manufacturing, component protection, and medical supply packaging.

Recommended for: ESD bag sealing, electronic component packaging, medical supply vacuum packaging, large-format industrial part protection, and any application requiring airtight sealing across formats wider than 36cm.

For industrial buyers: the LTP pump, stainless steel housing, 1,000-cycle continuous rating, and 20-year spare parts guarantee all support long-term use in production environments where the machine is expected to run daily without interruption.

Bags, Rolls, Containers, and Beyond

One button press switches the V.400 Premium XL to container mode. It works with LAVA vacuum containers in glass, plastic, and stainless steel, standard preserving jars and pots with a compatible vacuum valve, and cans with a valve lid. The suction attachment is included.

For bag and roll sealing: any embossed vacuum bag or roll up to 46cm wide and up to 6 metres in length. The 13-position adjustable sealing time handles everything from thin dry-aging bags through to 200-micron industrial-thickness foil. LAVA’s vacuum sealer bags and vacuum seal rolls up to 46cm wide are compatible.

Who Uses the V.400 Premium XL Vacuum Sealer

High-volume butchers and meat processors: The 46cm bar handles wide cuts and whole-animal portions that exceed 36cm. Running three bags per cycle rather than two makes a measurable difference to throughput in a production butcher setting over the course of a full day.

Seafood businesses and fish processors: Wide flat fish, whole salmon sides, and large seafood portions processed in bulk need the width and the triple seal. The V.400 is used directly by seafood businesses in Australia; customer reviews on this page reflect that.

Catering and large-scale food production: Operations that package meals, proteins, or prepared foods in volume, where the 46cm bar width allows wider bag formats and higher hourly throughput than a 36cm machine.

Industrial and ESD packaging: Electronics manufacturers, medical supply operations, engineering workshops, and any industrial application requiring wide-format airtight packaging in bag widths up to 46cm.

Anyone who has outgrown the V.350: The most direct buyer for this machine is an operation already running a V.350 and needing greater seal width or more cycles per hour. The upgrade path is straightforward: same housing, same vacuum, same features, 10cm wider sealing bar.

V.400 Premium XL vs. the Range

LAVA Vacuum Packaging — Full Range Comparison

← Scroll to compare →
Specification

V.400 vs. V.350: The only differences are the seal bar width (46cm vs 36cm) and the sealing transformer wattage (1,100W vs 900W). Vacuum pressure, pump, housing, features, and L+ regulation range are identical. If 36cm covers your product range, the V.350 is the right machine. If you need 46cm, the V.400 is the step up.

V.400 vs. V.500 XXL: The V.500 Premium XXL steps up to a 72cm bar, three separate pumps running in parallel at a combined 60L/min, slightly deeper vacuum at -0.97 bar, and 1,800W across the full triple-seal bar. It is the machine for full-carcass processing, very high-volume industrial operations, and any application where the 46cm bar on the V.400 is a constraint. At 26 kg and 84cm wide, it is a different class of equipment.

German-Made. Stainless Steel. 25-Year Pump Warranty

The V.400 Premium XL is built by Landig + Lava in southern Germany. Stainless steel housing, individually serviceable components, and the same warranty structure as every other machine in the range: 2-year commercial warranty, and guaranteed spare parts availability for at least 20 years from your purchase date.

Wearing parts, sealing strip, gasket, liquid receivers, are replaced by the operator without returning the machine for service. For an industrial or commercial machine running in daily production, that matters: no downtime waiting for a service centre, no shipping costs, no loss of production for a worn seal strip.

LAVA V.400 Premium XL Common Questions

What is the difference between the V.400 Premium XL and the V.350 Premium L?

Two things only: the seal bar width (46cm on the V.400 vs 36cm on the V.350) and the sealing transformer wattage (1,100W vs 900W). Everything else is the same, vacuum pressure (-0.94 bar), pump (LTP, 35L/min), triple seal, stainless steel housing, LCS+ closing system, pressure gauge, L+ regulation to -0.2 bar, dual liquid protection, and 1,000 consecutive sealings. If 36cm is wide enough for your products, the V.350 is the right machine. If you need the extra 10cm of seal width or want to run three bags per cycle rather than two, the V.400 is the step up.

Yes. Three standard-width vacuum bags positioned side by side across the 46cm bar will seal simultaneously in a single cycle. All three bags need to fit within the 46cm width and have their open ends positioned correctly across the sealing strip. This is a standard workflow for high-volume portioning operations using the V.400.
The L+ regulator adjusts vacuum pressure down to approximately -0.2 bar on the V.400 Premium XL. Some older product listings state -0.3 bar, the correct figure for this machine and the V.350 is -0.2 bar, consistent with the industrial tier of the LAVA range.
Yes. LAVA recommends the V.350, V.400, and V.500 for ESD anti-static bag sealing (i-Vac). The V.400’s 46cm bar handles wide-format industrial bags used for electronics components, medical supplies, and other applications requiring wide airtight packaging.

Any embossed vacuum bag or roll up to 34cm wide. Bags up to 31cm fit inside the removable drip tray. Bags between 31cm and 34cm seal across the sealing chamber outside the tray. LAVA’s vacuum sealer bags and vacuum seal rolls cover this range in full.

The V.500 Premium XXL has a 72cm seal bar, three separate pumps, -0.97 bar vacuum, 1,800W, and weighs 26 kg. It is designed for full-carcass processing and very high-volume industrial vacuum packaging where 46cm is insufficient. If 46cm covers your product range, the V.400 is the right machine.

Wow!!! What an awesome machine. I was using a small vacuum sealer from a department store which was slow and unreliable, this vacuum sealer is a real game changer for us. I am using this to vacuum seal mainly meat (home butchering) and vegetables to freeze from our garden, also many other items. I can seal 2 bags at a time when packing which saves a lot of time. The machine is solid and of great quality with long warranty. I seriously wished I had purchased this machine years ago! Thank you very much!
