LAVA V.500 Premium XXL, Three Pumps, 72cm, and the Deepest Vacuum in the Range

The LAVA V.500 Premium XXL is the largest external vacuum-packing machine that LAVA produces. It has a 72cm triple-seal bar, three independent vacuum pumps running in parallel at a combined flow rate of 60 litres per minute, and reaches -0.97 bar, the deepest vacuum in the entire LAVA range. No other model in the Australian lineup achieves that vacuum depth.

There is a straightforward reason to choose the V.500 over the V.400 Premium XL: you need either the 72cm bar width, the extra vacuum depth, or both. The V.400 tops out at 46cm and -0.94 bar. The V.500 gives you 26 more centimetres of seal width and a 0.03 bar deeper vacuum.

In practice, this machine is used for whole-animal and half-carcass vacuum packaging, wide-format commercial cheese and charcuterie production, large-scale seafood processing, and industrial applications where the bag formats simply do not fit within 46cm. It handles up to four standard vacuum bags simultaneously and seals the full 72cm width on a single press of the LCS+ lid.

At 20.5 kg and 83cm wide, this is a fixed production station. You buy it, position it once, and it runs.

Three Independent Pumps

Every other machine in the LAVA range uses a single pump. The V.500 Premium XXL runs three independent LTP pumps simultaneously, each pulling 20 litres per minute for a combined 60L/min across the full 72cm sealing chamber.

A single pump drawing vacuum across a 72cm chamber would create an uneven pressure distribution. The vacuum depth toward the outer edges of the chamber would lag behind the centre, meaning bags positioned at the far ends of the 72cm bar would not reach -0.97 bar as quickly or as consistently as a bag in the middle. Three pumps distributed across the chamber length draw down evenly from end to end, so every part of a 72cm bag reaches -0.97 bar at the same rate. That gives you a consistent vacuum depth and a consistent triple-seal quality across the full bar width on every cycle.

The three-pump configuration also provides a degree of operational redundancy. If one pump develops a fault mid-session, the other two continue operating. The machine’s performance drops, but does not stop completely. For a food processing or industrial operation where machine downtime has a direct cost, that matters.

Each of the three pumps has its own double-ball-bearing LTP mechanism, its own filter protection, and its own 25-year warranty. All three are individually serviceable.

-0.97 Bar, The Deepest Vacuum in the LAVA Range

Every LAVA machine from the V.350 through to the V.400 reaches -0.94 bar. The V.500 Premium XXL reaches -0.97 bar, 0.03 bar deeper than any other external vacuum packing machine in the LAVA Australian range.

At -0.97 bar, the machine is pulling very close to absolute vacuum (-1 bar). The practical effect of the extra depth is a more complete removal of residual air from the bag. Less residual oxygen means slower oxidation, lower risk of aerobic bacterial activity, and a longer shelf life before quality deterioration begins. For operations sealing premium whole-carcass cuts, high-value aged meats, or large-format food products where shelf life and presentation quality have direct commercial value, the deeper vacuum is worth having.

For industrial applications, -0.97 bar also means better protection against moisture, oxidation, and atmospheric contamination for sealed components and materials. A denser vacuum around the packaged item reduces the risk of permeation during extended storage.

Precise Vacuum Control Across a 72cm Bar

The V.500 Premium XXL includes the analogue pressure gauge and L+ pressure regulator as standard, the same configuration used on the V.350 and V.400. The L+ regulator adjusts vacuum depth down to approximately -0.2 bar for pressure-sensitive products.

On a 72cm-wide bag sealing a large, high-value product, the consequences of a seal failure due to liquid contamination or product over-compression are greater than on a narrower bag. The L+ regulator used alongside the gauge gives you precise control over where the vacuum stops before the triple-seal fires. Set your target level before the cycle, watch the needle reach it, and trigger the seal in manual mode.

In automatic mode, the machine draws to -0.97 bar and seals without input from you. Manual mode is the correct mode for L+ regulation use.

LCS+ Closing System and Automatic Cycle

A brief press of the lid engages the LCS+ magnetic latch. The three pumps start simultaneously, draw down to the target vacuum, the triple seal fires across all 72cm, and the solenoid ventilates the chamber and releases the lid automatically. No lid holding. No separate seal press in automatic mode.

For a production operation running four bags per cycle through the V.500, the fully automatic cycle removes the operator from the sealing step entirely. You load the next set of bags while the current cycle completes. The 13-position sealing time adjustment covers everything from thin dry-aging material to 200-micron industrial foil without requiring estimates.

Manual mode is available via the control panel toggle for L+ regulation use.

72cm, What You Can Actually Seal at This Width

The 72cm triple-seal bar is the primary reason most buyers choose the V.500 over the V.400.

Full-carcass and half-carcass processing: A whole leg of beef, a full side of pork, or a large half-carcass section from game will not fit within 46cm. At 72cm, these cuts go directly into a purpose-sized bag without being forced into an undersized seal area, repositioned, or split into multiple packages. For a large-scale game processor, an abattoir, or a wholesale butcher handling whole animals, the 72cm bar is not optional.

Wide-format commercial cheese and charcuterie: Whole cheese wheels and large charcuterie pieces packaged for wholesale or export typically require bag formats that exceed 46cm. The V.500 handles these without modification.

Maximum throughput on standard bags: At 72cm, four standard vacuum bags can be positioned side by side and sealed in a single cycle. For a production line running consistent portion sizes, sealing four bags per cycle rather than three (V.400) increases hourly output without increasing cycle time.

Industrial packaging: Wide-format ESD bags, large-sheet material protection, oversized industrial component packaging, and medical supply bags exceeding 46cm in width are all within the V.500’s range.

The triple weld runs three parallel seam lines, each approximately 4mm wide, across all 72cm on every cycle. The 1,800W sealing transformer maintains even heat across the full bar length from the first seal to the thousandth.

1,800W, Driving Three Welds Across 72cm

The V.500 runs 1,800W through the sealing transformer. As with every step up in the industrial range, the extra wattage powers the wider seal bar rather than the pumps.

Sustaining even heat across 72cm of triple-seal strip requires substantially more power than across 46cm. Any underpowered transformer at this bar width would show inconsistent weld quality toward the outer edges of the bar as successive cycles build up heat or when sealing thicker foils. At 1,800W, the transformer maintains even temperature across all 72cm on every cycle, including through 200-micron industrial-thickness foil.

The automated cooling system on the sealing strip manages heat between cycles. The oversized transformer design and fan-cooled housing allow continuous operation up to 1,000 consecutive sealings per session without interruption.

Bags, Rolls, Containers, and Industrial Applications

Whole-animal and half-carcass processors: The V.500 is the right machine when the product being sealed is too wide for a 46cm bar. Whole beef legs, large pork sides, full-carcass sections from big game, sealed directly at 72cm without compromise.

Large-scale seafood operations: Wide flat fish, full fish sides, and oversized seafood products sealed at volume for commercial distribution. The -0.97 bar vacuum and triple seal are designed for high-moisture products in wide bags intended for extended freezer storage.

Wholesale cheese and charcuterie producers: Whole wheels and large-format blocks packaged for wholesale or export, where bag formats routinely exceed 46cm.

High-volume food production lines: Four bags per cycle at -0.97 bar with a fully automatic cycle. For a production line that runs consistent portion sizes, the throughput advantage over the V.400 is measurable throughout a full shift.

Industrial and ESD packaging: Wide-format industrial bag sealing for electronics, medical supplies, and precision components at a scale that requires more than the V.400’s 46cm capacity.

LAVA V.500 Premium XXL Common Questions

What is the difference between the V.500 and the V.400 Premium XL?

Three things: seal bar width (72cm vs 46cm), pump architecture (three pumps at 60L/min combined vs one pump at 35L/min), and vacuum pressure (-0.97 bar vs -0.94 bar). The V.500 also runs 1,800W vs 1,100W on the V.400. Everything else, triple seal, stainless steel housing, LCS+ system, pressure gauge, L+ regulation to -0.2 bar, 13 sealing positions, dual liquid protection, is the same on both machines.
A single pump cannot draw an even vacuum across a 72cm chamber consistently. Three pumps distributed across the chamber pull down evenly from end to end, so every part of the bag reaches -0.97 bar at the same rate. This gives consistent vacuum depth and consistent weld quality across the full 72cm on every cycle. The three-pump configuration also provides partial operational redundancy if one pump develops a fault during a production run.
Up to four standard-width vacuum bags positioned side by side across the 72cm bar, sealed in a single cycle. All four need to fit within the 72cm width with their open ends positioned correctly across the sealing strip.
Yes. The V.500 Premium XXL achieves -0.97 bar, the deepest vacuum of any external vacuum packing machine in the LAVA range available in Australia. Models from the V.350 through to the V.400 reach -0.94 bar. The V.500 and V.1200 are the only models that reach -0.97 bar.
Yes. The L+ pressure regulator, included as standard, reduces the target vacuum to approximately -0.2 bar. Use manual mode, set the L+ dial to your target, watch the pressure gauge needle, and trigger the seal when the needle reaches your desired level. The machine seals at that point rather than drawing to maximum.

Any embossed vacuum bag or roll up to 72cm wide and up to 6 metres in length. LAVA’s vacuum sealer bags and vacuum seal rolls cover this range. The continuous scale from 1 to 13 sealing time adjustment, handles thin dry-aging bags through to 200-micron industrial foil.

Yes. LAVA recommends the V.350, V.400, and V.500 for ESD anti-static bag sealing. The V.500’s 72cm bar handles wide-format industrial ESD bags that exceed what the V.400’s 46cm capacity can accommodate.
