When Standard Bags Reach Their Limit
pac The RS-Vac isn’t a replacement for the standard bag — it’s the upgrade for when failure is not an option. Built for sharp edges, exposed bone, heavy handling and long-term freezer storage, RS-Vac gives you extra security where standard 90-micron bags can occasionally fail.
Built for Bones, Fins & Sharp Edges
T-bone steaks, racks of ribs, bone-in lamb, whole fish with fins and spines, and hard-rind cheeses create pressure points that can pierce thinner bags. RS-Vac’s 160-micron strength resists punctures during vacuuming, freezing, stacking and transport.
Reliable Long-Term Storage
Thicker film improves strength, oxygen barrier performance and seal durability over time. Perfect for venison, bulk meat, large fish and seasonal freezer storage where freshness must last.
Controlled Vacuuming with Liquids
The patented fleece layer helps control liquid movement during vacuuming, ensuring a clean seal before juices or brine reach the weld line.
Dense, Tear-Resistant Structure
Stronger 160-micron construction makes these bags ideal for demanding use, including processing, handling, stacking and transport.
Important Before You Buy
Not all vacuum sealers can properly seal 160-micron material. The machine needs enough sealing power to weld the thicker film cleanly. All LAVA vacuum seal machines are fully compatible. For other brands, check your machine’s maximum foil thickness before ordering.
Best Suited For
- Bone-in cuts (ribs, chops, T-bones, osso buco, lamb legs)
- Whole game and bulk meat processing
- Large fish with fins and spines
- Hard-rind cheeses
- 12+ months freezer storage
- Commercial use with heavy handling and transport
Machine Compatibility
Fully compatible with all LAVA vacuum sealer machines. For other brands, confirm your machine can seal 160-micron foil before ordering.
R-Vac vs RS-Vac: Which Bag Should You Choose?
Switch between the standard 90-micron bag and the extra-strong 160-micron bag.
R-Vac Standard Embossed Bags
Everyday vacuum sealing for meal prep, vegetables, and boneless meat.
- Everyday use
- Boneless meat
- Vegetables
- Lower cost
RS-Vac Extra Strong Bags
Heavy-duty option for bone-in cuts, sharp edges, and long-term storage.
- Bone-in cuts
- Sharp edges
- Long-term storage
- Commercial use
Choose the right bag
Use R-Vac for everyday sealing. Choose RS-Vac when strength, durability and long-term storage matter.
RS-Vac 160 Micron – Common Questions
Can my vacuum sealer handle 160-micron bags?
All LAVA machines seal 160-micron foil without issue.
If you’re using another brand, check your machine’s maximum foil thickness specification first. Many consumer-grade sealers are limited to 90–120 microns.
If your machine is underpowered, the result won’t be damage — but a weak or incomplete seal, which defeats the purpose of using a heavy-duty bag.
What is the difference between the RS-Vac and R-Vac bags?
It comes down to thickness and protection.
- RS-Vac: 160 microns — built for maximum puncture resistance and long-term storage
- R-Vac: 90 microns — ideal for everyday use at a lower cost
Both use the same Swiss-made PA/PE multilayer construction with patented fleece layer, and share identical food safety standards, temperature ratings, and machine compatibility.
Simple rule:
Use RS-Vac for bone-in or demanding applications.
Use R-Vac for standard, boneless products.
Are the RS-Vac bags reusable?
Yes — suitable for up to 95°C for up to 2 hours.
The thicker material does not affect sealing or vacuum performance.
For longer cooks above 70°C (over 2 hours), LAVA recommends dedicated H-Vac cooking bags.
Can I mix RS-Vac sizes in one order and still get the bulk discount?
Yes. They are dishwasher-safe and reusable.
After cutting open, simply re-seal the remaining length — as long as there is enough material to position the bag correctly on the sealing bar.
Can I mix RS-Vac sizes in one order and still get the bulk discount?
Yes. The discount is based on the total number of packs in your cart, not the size.
Mix any RS-Vac sizes and the bulk discount applies automatically from 3 packs.
Do you have RS-Vac bags in custom sizes?
Yes — custom sizes are available from 2,000 units.
