What the Top Rubber Strip Does, and How It Differs from the Sealing Tape
The top rubber strip is the counter-pressure part in the lid. It presses the bag down onto the heated seal bar so the weld forms evenly along its whole length.
Two Different Parts Working Together
Hard-Rubber Strip
The firm pad in the lid. It presses the bag and weld band down so pressure stays even from end to end.
Glass-Fibre Sealing Tape
The cover on the heated bar. It stops bag film sticking as it welds and is the part that browns or frays.
How to Tell Which Part May Be the Problem
Both parts wear, and both are matched to your machine. A sealing issue may come from the tape, the rubber strip, or both.
Seal Sticking or Looking Messy
Check the glass-fibre sealing tape first because it controls bag release from the heated bar.
Seal Weak or Uneven in Places
Check the hard-rubber strip, especially if the tape is already clean and in good condition.
Old Machine with Mixed Symptoms
Replace one or both parts if the machine has been used heavily and sealing quality has dropped.

Insert the New Strip
